March 30, 2017 PA Forward budget presented to APPLS

     Christi Buker also provided the following details: "Thank you for the opportunity to speak at your APPLS meeting this morning.  In following up to Marilyn’s question, would you please share this with the others –

• If APPLS contributes to PA Forward (versus conference) the same amount in 2017 as they did in 2016, it would represent 37% of budgeted PAF donation revenue goals.
• For reference, the percentage in 2016 ended up being 53% of actual donations. If budget had been met, it would have been 30%.
• It should be noted that PA Forward is a portion of the PaLA budget, and doesn’t operate independently.  By that, we do not designate specify amounts or percentages from institutional or personal memberships as line item donations to PA Forward.  In that respect, it is difficult to compare APPLS contributions versus other donations.

     As I noted this morning, we have created a draft of PA Forward partnership/sponsorship tiers and that will be on the steering committee agenda for April 21.  Additionally, the PaLA Finance Committee will be starting work earlier this year with the goal of creating a 3 year budget plan, and the Board has approved the creation of a development task force to consider all aspects of financial development.  I believe that we are headed in the right direction, but these will take some time.  We are grateful for APPLS support and look forward to helping you and our libraries get stronger together!"
